A heated argument between two parties escalated to such an extent that a 71-year-old man fired shots from his licensed weapon at Islam Ganj here. Though no lives were lost during the incident, it created an atmosphere of fear in the area.

A complaint regarding the same was filed at Police Division 2, after which the police took the elderly man into custody.

SHO Gurjit Singh said the police were probing the matter.

As per sources, a land dispute was going on between the two parties in the area. A fierce argument erupted between the neighbours over a construction-related dispute, leading to the incident.
