The victim had lodged a police complaint against the suspects in November 2024 and after a long investigation, the police registered a case against them.

The complainant, Khushhal Kumar of the Civil Lines, told the police that Ved Prakash and Diwakar fraudulently obtained Rs 1.38 crore from him for purchasing a property. They neither got the property registered nor returned the amount. During the investigation, Ved Prakash was arrested by the police while the search for his son was launched by the police.
