Man’s body found in drum in Giaspura

Panic gripped the Giaspura area here when the body of a man, who seemed to be around 40 years old, was recovered from a blue drum near Doaba Motor. The suspect(s) had tied the victim’s feet before killing him. After receiving information, officials from Police Division 6 reached the scene. They took the body in custody and sent it for a post-mortem examination at the Civil Hospital. The police said the reason behind the crime would be known after arrival of the autopsy report and identification of the deceased.

Inspector Kulwant Kaur said on Wednesday morning, some passers-by informed the police that the body of a man was lying in a blue drum near Doaba Motor in the Giaspura area. The police team reached the scene and found that the man’s body was badly decomposed.

The unidentified killers had tied the man’s feet, murdered him and put his body in the drum, before leaving it in a deserted place. The suspects had also covered the drum with a piece of cloth.

Inspector Kulwant Kaur said no document was found on the deceased. The police kept the body in the mortuary for identification.

The police are also trying to gather evidence by checking the footage of CCTV cameras.

She said local residents were also being questioned to get any clue about the suspects and the case would be solved soon.
