To ensure fogging is carried out across the city, Mayor Inderjit Kaur handed over 20 new handy/mini fogging machines to officials during her visit to the Municipal Corporation (MC) workshop on Hambran Road on Friday.

The Mayor also conducted an inspection at the workshop and directed the officials to ensure cleanliness and to repair e-rickshaws, JCB machines etc at the earliest. Executive Engineer Arvind Kumar, among other officials, were present during the inspection.

The Mayor said that apart from big machines, handy/mini ones had been provided to the health branch staffers in all wards to ensure fogging in the streets/roads. A few handy machines had developed snags in the past, following which new machines had now been provided to the staffers, so that there was no hindrance in taking up the fogging drive, she added.

As the city has witnessed incessant rainfall in the recent past, fogging is being taken up to keep the residents safe from vector-borne diseases.

The Mayor said that serving the public was the MC’s priority and every effort was being made to ensure that residents did not face any trouble. If required, more machinery would be purchased, she said.
