The Municipal Corporation (MC) Zone-B team took action against 16 illegal constructions here today.

The action has been taken on the directions on MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal who conducted surprise inspection in various areas of the city earlier this week.

Assistant Town Planner (ATP - Zone B) Davinder Singh said seven illegal shops were demolished in Ranjit Singh Nagar and Baba Deep Singh Nagar. A labour quarter building was demolished in Bhagat Singh Nagar area. Six illegal shops and two illegal buildings were sealed in Ranjit Singh Nagar.

Assistant Town Planner Singh said the drive against illegal constructions would continue in future also.

Meanwhile, the MC Commissioner urged residents that they should start construction works only after getting the building plan approved from the civic body. Otherwise, strict action would be taken against illegal constructions.
