After the scrutiny of the nomination papers, now 663 candidates are in fray for the elections of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. A total of 682 nominations were received from 95 wards, of which 19 were rejected today.

In Municipal Council, Maachiwara, 23 nomination papers were rejected and now, 45 candidates are in the fray. In Sahnewal and Mullanpur Dakha municipal councils, one nomination paper each was rejected and now, 73 and 54 candidates are in fray, respectively.

Meanwhile, in Nagar Panchayat Maloud, Municipal Council Khanna, Ward 2 and Municipal Council, Samrala, Ward 12, no nomination papers were rejected.

A total of 44 nomination papers were rejected after scrutiny on Friday.

Candidates can withdraw their nominations by Saturday. The electronic voting machines (EVMs) would be used for the voting on December 21 and the polled votes will be counted on the same day at the polling station itself, after the completion of polling of votes.
