Ludhiana District Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association celebrated Vishwakarma Day with fervour here on Wednesday. On this occasion, members and trainees gathered at Ludhiana Weighlifting Club, Rakh Bagh, to pay homage to Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect of the universe and the inspiration of the country’s skilled craftsmen, artisans and workers.

A pooja was performed, during which weightlifting kits were worshipped by athletes, seeking blessings for their equipment and sport, the members showed their respect for the deity and their commitment to their craft.

Parvesh Chander Sharma, gold medallist in Auckland Commonwealth Games and general secretary of the association, highlighted the importance of Vishwakarma in the lives of athletes and sports enthusiasts.

The event served as an opportunity for the weightlifting community to come together and celebrate their passion for the sport. The presence of Parvesh added to the significance of the occasion, inspiring young weightlifters to strive for excellence.

Kamaljit Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Rahul Sehgal, Deepak Kapoor and Daman Arora were among others who attended the celebrations.
