Migrant dies after being hit by bus, kin hold protest

After a migrant died after he was hit by a bus at Samrala Chowk here on Saturday afternoon, kin of the deceased, along with large number of migrants, gathered at the scene and held a protest.

The protest caused traffic jam for sometime. It was only when the police told the protesters that the bus driver had been arrested and a case was registered against him, the protest was lifted.

As per information, the deceased, identified as Vinod Singh (53), was present in Samrala when a bus of an educational institute hit him. The victim suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital where he succumbed

to his injuries. After his death, the migrants reached the scene and held a protest, obstructing the vehicular traffic.

The protesters had alleged that the police had let the bus driver go despite his fault.

They also misbehaved with a policeman, who was trying to calm down the protesters.

Meanwhile, the police said the driver of the bus, belonging to an educational institute, was arrested in the case.
