As per the information, on late Wednesday night, a 17-year-old boy was reportedly abducted by three youths and thrashed badly.

Eyewitness accounts from villagers suggest that the three assailants forcibly compelled the boy to mount their motorcycle. They then took him to a deserted location near the railway bridge close to the village limits, where the shocking assault took place.

Police sources indicate that the attackers used sharp-edged weapons against the victim. Following the attack, the assailants allegedly fled from the spot, taking the boy’s mobile phone with them.

The accused left the boy lying in a state of semi-consciousness, enduring the night outdoors. It was not until the following morning, Thursday, that the family found the 17-year-old in a pool of blood and immediately rushed him to the civil hospital Jagraon.

Due to the gravity of his injuries, he was transferred first to the Ludhiana Civil Hospital and then urgently moved to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, where he remains in critical.

Former village sarpanch, Jagraj Singh, has made an earnest plea to the police to take swift action in the case.

Inspector Parminder Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jagraon City PS, confirmed the investigation was pending a formal statement. “The family is presently with the victim. Once their statement is officially recorded, an FIR,” he said.
