A case of rape of a minor girl has come to light in the city. The suspect, also a minor, absconded after impregnating the teenager. He used to call the girl to his room and develop physical relations with the victim on the pretext of marrying her.

When the victim got pregnant, the youth gave her abortion pills. When the girl’s health deteriorated after consuming the pills, she informed her family about the matter. Following which, she was taken to a hospital and her five-month pregnancy was aborted. After giving the pills to the victim, the suspect fled the place, fearing that her family might lodge a complaint against him and he may be arrested by the police.

The victim’s father told the police that his daughter told him that the suspect befriended her by luring her on the pretext of marriage. He would often call her to his room where he used to develop physical relations with her.

He said the youth also gave abortion pills to his daughter due to which the foetus got aborted. The suspect after raping and impregnating his daughter had vacated his room and fled the place.

The Sahnewal police on Friday registered a case against the suspect under Section 64 of the BNS and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

ASI Mewa Singh said the girl’s five-month pregnancy was aborted after she was forced to consume abortion pills. A probe was on to trace the whereabouts of the suspect and he would be arrested soon.
