A foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Khattu Shyam Mandir was held with religious fervour at the Krishna Complex on Pohir Road near here.

Amargarh MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra was the chief guest at the function, while advocate Satyam Nagar, Sandeep Jain, Municipal Council President Vikas Krishan Sharma, and former presidents Ravinder Puri, Vikas Tandon, Sanjiv Kumar Somi, and Dr Sunit Hind were among those who joined the prayers and havan ceremony.

Gajjan Majra said the construction of the temple would go a long way in persuading youths to shun social evils, including drug abuse, and adopt the elements of Sanatan Dharam in their lifestyle.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
