MCC Academy, Moga, beat GNS Academy, Ludhiana, by 42 runs in the semifinals to secure a berth in the final of the First Inter-Academies (U-18) Cricket Tournament, being played at the Golf Link cricket ground on Hambran Road here on Thursday.

Batting first, Moga players scored 156 runs in 43.5 overs. The main architects of the innings were Gurbaljeet Singh (60), Gurmandeep Singh (20), Harsukh Gill (18) and Sachin Chaudhary who made 17 runs. For GNS Academy, Abhay Tiwari, Rakshit Khosla and Pranay grabbed two wickets each, while Arshit Arora, Yuvraj Sharma and Naman Mehta chipped in with apiece each.

In reply, GNS Academy’s innings folded at 114 runs in 29.3 overs in which Kavish Uppal made 38 runs, followed by Yuvraj Pal and Aryan Singh, who contributed 26 and 11 runs, respectively.

For the winning side, Sachin Chaudhary captured four wickets and Samanveer Rathore took three, while Tanmay Goyal got two.
