Moving forward with the plantation drive along the ‘Buddha Dariya’, Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal planted around 550 saplings on Friday.

The plantation drive commenced from near the Jamalpur STP site and MP Seechewal was accompanied by officials of the municipal corporation and Punjab Pollution Control Board, among others.

Seechewal appealed to the residents they should also step forward and plant as many tree saplings as possible in their localities.

He stated that they had commenced the plantation drive alongside the ‘Buddha Dariya’ from Gurdwara Gau Ghat on February 2. Plantation is now being carried out in phases to enhance green cover along the dariya. MP Seechewal appealed to the NGOs and residents to step forward and join the drive.

Later he also conducted a meeting with the officials of the MC, Punjab Pollution Control Board among other departments at Jamalpur STP site and detailed discussions were held to reduce pollution levels in the ‘Buddha Dariya’.
