A fine all-round performance by Naman Dhir (3 for 72 and 137 runs) steered Faridkot to its victory against Ludhiana in the opening league match in Group A in the Punjab State Inter-District Senior One-Day Cricket Tournament. The match was played at Faridkot on Sunday.

Ludhiana won the toss and elected to bat first. Their innings folded at 242 runs in 49.3 overs. Tikshan Tangri top scored with 74 runs and was followed by Saksham Vij with 45 runs. For Faridkot, Sukhreeb Singh captured three wickets for 34 runs and Naman Dhir took three for 72 runs while Ravinder Singh Brar grabbed two wickets for 40 runs.

Faridkot achieved the target in 30.1 overs after losing four wickets. The highlight of the innings was a century by Naman Dhir who faced 66 balls and scored 137 runs with the help of 13 boundaries and 11 sixes. For the losing side, Yogjit Singh Kalsi scalped two wickets while Harshit Takkar and Nehal Wadhera accounted for one wicket each.

In the second match to be played at Ropar on July 30, Ludhiana will clash with Ropar.
