NCC Group Commander reviews cadets’ training at Faraur camp

Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsTo screen and review the training of NCC cadets before the inter group competition of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh directorate and to hone the cadets’ skills for the prestigious Republic Day Camp at New Delhi; Brigadier Paramjeet Singh Cheema, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Ludhiana, visited the camp being conducted by 19 Punjab Battalion NCC at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya, Faraur.
On arrival, the Group Commander was presented with Guard of Honour by the cadets, followed by an interaction with the camp training staff and Principal. Thereafter he observed cadets undergo a plethora of training activities including preparation for Guard of Honour, march on Kartavya Path, Prime Minister’s rally, group dance, group song, group ballet etc. He analytically guided cadets for improvement in each category by providing invaluable insights. He used the acronym ‘SPORTS’ for self-discipline, punctuality, obedience, resilience, team work and the spirit of sportsmanship.
He further emphasised the value of ‘Unity in Diversity’ in nation building and how NCC cadets could contribute positively to that effect. While addressing the gathering, including commanding officers from five NCC battalions, 12 associated NCC officers, 15 permanent instructional staff and 504 cadets, Brigadier Cheema shared his personal experiences. He said there was no end to learning and every endeavour must be made by trainers and trainees alike to gain knowledge and skills at every stage of life.
The visit culminated with the group commander having a casual yet fruitful interaction with the cadets over a working lunch, where cadets without any inhibitions shared their experiences and expectations from the NCC, thereby paving a way for future organisational development.
