Odisha’s dairy officials, farmers visit vet varsity

An exposure visit of dairy officials from Bolangir-Kalahandi-Nuapada Regional Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd based at Bolangir, Odisha, was arranged at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. A total of 27 officials including, the board of directors of the milk union and progressive farmers from three districts of Odisha visited the vet varsity.

The exposure visit was organised to sensitise the officials and progressive farmers regarding latest advancements adopted in the dairy sector.The visit to university’s dairy farm was facilitated by Dr RS Grewal, Director of Livestock Farms, wherein he apprised the visitors regarding climate smart housing of livestock along with importance of feeding balanced ration for optimal milk production. The visitors were also shown the functioning of the automatic milking parlour at the farm.

During their visit to the university’s clinics they witnessed the large animal treatment area and facilities provided to the farmers. The visit at clinics was facilitated by Dr Gurpreet Singh Preet. The visitors were also made familiar with the facilities provided to the farmers through Farmer Information Centre along with Pashu Palak Tele-Advisory Kendra.
