Sania from Malerkotla and Paramjeet of Patiala emerged winners in the women and men sections, respectively in badminton at the first Para Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan which commenced at Shastri Hall, near Guru Nanak Stadium, here on Wednesday. The games are being organised by the Punjab Sports Department with the help of the district administration.

In the women SL-4 category, Sania was followed by Najot (Ludhiana) and Anmol (Muktsar) at second and third place, respectively. In the men wheelchair-2 category, Paramjeet outplayed Ashwani Kumar of Ludhiana to secure top position and Suresh Kumar of Moga finished at the third spot.

Kuldeep Chugh, District Sports Office, declared the games open. Jaspreet Singh, secretary, Punjab Para Sports Association, was the guest of honour on the occasion. Coaches Gagandeep Singh and Sanjeev Sharma along with co-convener Rakesh Kumar were also present during the opening ceremony.
