The two-day Pashu Palan Mela of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University concluded with a message of achieving prosperity and health through value addition of livestock products.

The mela attracted a huge gathering of farmers, who came together to learn new techniques for livestock farming through integration.

Dr Kamal Kumar Garg, Additional Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, was the chief guest at the awards function. Kuldeep Singh, director, Dairy Development Department, was the guest of honour.

Dr Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, vice-chancellor, presided over the function and urged farmers to develop their business acumen through value addition of livestock products for higher returns. He underlined activities of all the colleges and centres of university for better reach to the farming community.

A committee of the university adjudged the stalls in the industry category and declared Paras Nutrition Pvt Ltd as the best stall, Olympic Overseas came in second and SWell Engineering stood third. In the university category, College of Fisheries got the first prize, Department of Livestock Production Management came in second and College of Dairy and Food Science Technology stood third.
