Ludhiana, August 2
Manpreet Kaur, who has done her PhD from the Department of Biochemistry at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been selected as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.
She will join the department of food and human nutritional sciences, and work in the lab of Dr Nandika Bandara, associate professor and Tier-2 Canada Research Chair (Food Proteins and Bioproducts).
Manpreet Kaur will focus on “Exploring novel and sustainable protein extraction and processing technologies for developing functionally enhanced value-added protein ingredients.”
Her PhD, conducted under the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF), was titled ‘Biochemical Characterisation of Euryhaline Microalgal Strains for Bioactive Metabolites’ and carried out in collaboration with the nutraceutical industry in Panchkula.— TNS
