PAU alumnus, Everest climber inspires students

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and staff and was presided over by Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor, PAU.
During the session, Malkiat Singh shared his inspiring journey of climbing the world’s highest peak and proudly hoisting PAU’s flag at the summit. He stressed on the importance of sports in shaping a balanced life, fostering physical and mental well-being and nurturing human development.
Encouraging the students, he remarked that no goal is unattainable with determination and resilience. He shared gripping anecdotes from his Everest expedition, underscoring lessons of perseverance, teamwork, and self-belief. The interactive session concluded with a lively Q&A segment, during which he addressed numerous questions of the audience.
Reflecting on his achievement, Malkiat Singh said that hoisting PAU’s flag atop Mount Everest was a moment of immense pride for him. He described PAU as not just an institution but an emotion that lives within its alumni, no matter where they go in the world. He urged students to cherish their connection with PAU and carry its legacy forward.
Dr Gosal lauded the alumnus for bringing glory to PAU. He remarked that PAU alumni have reached every corner of the world, carrying the university’s name and prestige. “Malkiat Singh has demonstrated that even on the highest peak, PAU’s name cannot be left behind. He is an inspiration for both current and future generations,” the VC said.
