The College of Community Science PAU in collaboration with the Ludhiana chapter of Nutrition Society of India (NSI), commemorated World Food Day with an enlightening panel discussion titled ‘Food as Medicine: Does What You Eat Impact Your Well-being’. The event, which highlighted crucial connection between nutrition and health, was graced by Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU.

In his keynote address, Dr Gosal elaborated on this year’s World Food Day theme: “Right to food for a better life and a better future”. He emphasised the importance of addressing barriers to food access, such as poverty, inequality and environmental degradation, notably highlighting the impact of climate change on food security. Dr Gosal further highlighted that PAU played a pivotal role in tackling these challenges by fostering innovation, promoting sustainable practices and advocating policies that prioritise food security.

Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, provided insights into functioning and history of the NSI. She highlighted achievements of Ludhiana chapter which had received the ‘Best Chapter Award’ among 36 chapters across India in recognition of extensive efforts to promote nutrition science among the masses.
