A general body meeting of the PAU Retirees’ Welfare Association was held at the PAU Students’ Home. Over 100 retirees attended the meeting.

JR Bansal, association president, said the retirees were receiving pension after a delay of 8-10 days every month, while the employees were being paid on time. “We do not want to suffer for 10 days and need the pension on the first of the month. PAU has a well-equipped hospital but no medicine is available. Consequently, we have to buy our own from the market and submit bills. Though the outgoing V-C had ordered for bills to be processed within three weeks, it is taking them around six months. Either the PAU supply medicines or clear the bills in time,” the members rued. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
