Officials from the Union Ministry and scientists from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) came together to advocate large-scale implementation of water harvesting as a strategic solution to pressing water challenges.

The delegation included Swayamprava Prava Pani, Additional Development Commissioner (Handloom); Mohd Amnanullah, Technical Officer (Water Management), Central Water Commission (CWC); and Raivarinder Singh, Executive Engineer, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Government of Punjab.

During the dialogue, Pani highlighted the critical importance of water harvesting and discussed some of the initiatives of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. She also spoke about Jal Kendras and their role in groundwater augmentation.

Amnanullah emphasised the role of engineering solutions in effective water resource planning. Dr Samanpreet Kaur, Principal Scientist, made a presentation on various groundwater recharge technologies developed by the university.
