PAU unveils English e-edition of Kheti Sandesh for wider agricultural outreach

The move aims to provide farmers, agri-entrepreneurs and policymakers with timely advisories, research updates and enterprise opportunities. The magazine was formally released by Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, who digitally unveiled the edition with a single click, instantly reaching around one million users.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gosal lauded the initiative as “a bridge between science and the farming community,” adding that the publication would play a vital role in taking the university’s cutting-edge research and extension initiatives directly to the fields. He praised the editorial board, comprising Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education; Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, Additional Director of Communication; Dr KK Gill, Principal Agrometeorologist; and Dr Gurpreet Singh Makkar, Principal Extension Scientist and Editor, Kheti Sandesh, for their vision and teamwork in bringing out the magazine in a modern, farmer-friendly format.
Dr Gosal emphasised that the fortnightly publication would act as a trusted companion for farmers and stakeholders, transforming scientific knowledge into practical, profitable and sustainable farming solutions, while significantly boosting the visibility and recognition of the PAU on both national and international platforms.
Dr Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education, PAU, also graced the occasion and hailed the launch as a landmark initiative for extending the PAU’s technologies and innovations across Punjab and to wider audiences beyond the state.
The inaugural issue highlights PAU’s latest wheat variety, PBW 872, diversification options such as toria and Casuarina, improved fodder crops, climate advisories, and enterprise models, including honey processing and kombucha production.
