The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organised a monthly training camp for members of the PAU Kisan Club at the university’s Skill Development Centre.

The camp featured insightful discussions on critical agricultural practices, aimed at enhancing sustainable farming and profitability.

RS Chandi from the Department of Entomology spoke on integrated pest management, while Gurteg Singh from the Department of Fruit Science shared strategies for the planning and cultivation of fruit plants. Arshpreet from the Department of Agroforestry and Natural Resources highlighted the significance of agroforestry in sustainable agriculture.

Jiffinveer Singh Khosa from the Department of Vegetable Science elaborated on seed production of onions, and SK Sandhu from the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics discussed seed production of maize.

The event was presided over by PAU VC Satbir Singh Gosal, who released the annual calendar of the PAU Kisan Club. He emphasised the pivotal role of the PAU Kisan Club in bridging the gap between farmers and researchers by disseminating the latest university recommendations and providing valuable farmer feedback to align research priorities.

In a significant initiative to support entrepreneurial talent, the School of Business Studies (SBS) and the NIDHI-TBI team at PAU, provided strategic guidance to Manjinder Preet Kaur, a budding entrepreneur aspiring to launch her own herbal skincare brand. The two-hour session equipped her with insights on agri-venture management, brand registration, networking and marketing strategies.

Manjinder, a bachelor in accounting, has been retailing herbal skincare products for six years. Now, she is stepping up to establish her own brand specialising in herbal, organic, handmade soaps and skincare products derived from natural ingredients. Her product range includes essential oils, hair oils, soaps.
