The Ludhiana police claimed to have cracked the petrol pump robbery case and arrested three suspects. The police also recovered Rs 3.80 lakh in cash and a motorcycle used in the crime from them.

The suspects were identified as Hartej Singh Billa, a resident of Jaspal Bangar, Bhawanvir Singh of Shankar, and Arshdeep Singh of Bool, near Dehlon.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) Harjinder Singh in a statement issued said on Tuesday Anil Kumar, manager at the Reliance petrol pump in Rania village, had lodged a police complaint that on the intervening night of March 9 and 10, three unidentified persons had committed a loot at the petrol station at gunpoint. The suspects had snatched Rs 26,450 from a cashier, Hartej Singh, and then took away Rs 6,13, 450 kept in a safe in the IT room before fleeing the scene.

The ACP said after the police received a complaint in this regard, Hartej was found to be the conspirator. Following which, he was arrested and on his disclosures, Rs 1 lakh cash was recovered. Later, two other suspects, including another employee Arshdeep, were also arrested by the police and Rs 2.80 lakh was recovered from them. Another suspect, Sandhu, is yet to be arrested in the case.

The ACP added that now further investigation in the case was on and the role of the suspects in past such incidents would also be probed.
