Following the recent GST reforms, the prices of many goods, especially daily-use items, have been reduced. To elaborate upon this development, former state BJP president and ex-Union minister Vijay Sampla held a press conference today at the BJP’s district office.

Sampla stated that by lowering GST rates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a significant gift to the people of the country just before Diwali. He urged everyone to celebrate this as a ‘Savings Festival’. “The ‘GST Savings Festival’ has started across the country today, a result of Prime Minister Modi’s historic decision and the next-generation GST reforms,” he said.

Sampla emphasised that these changes would benefit people in every segment of society, as everything from electronics and healthcare products to educational materials and vehicles would become more affordable. “This will not only reduce tax rates but also simplify the system, as there will now be only two slabs,” he said, calling it a “Good and Simple Tax.”

He added that PM Modi’s call for a ‘Swadeshi Revolution’ and his national vision of ‘Aatmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) had given GST a new dimension. “This will reduce a common household’s expenditure by 15-20 per cent, benefiting every class of society,” he added.

Sampla further stated that the GST on medicines had been reduced from 12 to 5per cent, providing relief to patients. The prices of medicines like cancer, blood pressure and diabetes had all decreased. The cost of clothes and shoes, as well as appliances like window ACs, washing machines, and LED TVs, had also come down. “Surveys show that people are very happy with the significant discounts they are receiving on their purchases,” he added.
