Police attach smuggler’s property worth Rs 23.5 lakh

Ludhiana, August 2
The Ludhiana police today attached property worth Rs 23.50 lakh belonging to a drug smuggler at Jandiali village here.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal in a statement issued stated that on August 26, 2023, the Jamalpur police had arrested a smuggler, Sukhbir Singh, alias Goldy, a resident of Jandiali, and seized 530 gm of heroin from him. The police had also impounded a Toyota Innova vehicle of the suspect.
During the investigation, the police got to know about the property amassed by the suspect with the drug money. The case was further moved by the police to the competent authority under Section 68F(2) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, for freezing the property of Sukhbir, the CP said, adding that “today, we have received a copy of the order of the competent authority for freezing the suspect’s property, a house worth Rs 23.50 lakh. The copies of the order were also affixed on the property of the suspect.”
