Today, a meeting of the Pt Shardha Ram Phillauri Memorial Welfare Society, Punjab, was held at the local Circuit House under the chairmanship of Krishna Kumar Bawa, society president Purish Singla, and convener Navdeep Navi.
During the meeting, Bawa and Purish highlighted Pt Shardha Ram Phillauri’s remarkable contributions to India’s freedom struggle. They noted his fight against the practices of sati and child marriage, as well as his efforts to ensure social justice and respect for women. Pt Phillauri is also celebrated as the composer of the world famous “Om Jai Jagdish Hare — Swami Jai Jagdish Hare” aarti. His novel “‘Bhagyavati”, which guided young brides on culture and values, remains relevant even today.
Navi shared that on September 28, personalities making significant contributions to societal righteousness would be specially honoured during
the celebrations.
