Residents of Rajvir Jawanda's native village in Jagraon mourn his untimely death

The community had come together to organise a path in the hope of his recovery, but unfortunately, their prayers were not answered.
The villagers, led by Sarpanch Raju Jawanda, were shocked to hear the news of Rajvir Jawanda's demise at the hospital.
"We were gathering to perform the Bhog of the path of Guru Granth Sahib to pray for the long life of Rajvir Jawanda when social media reports started pouring in, and we had to conclude the path in a hurry," said Raju Singh.

Rajvir had gained popularity for his soulful voice and songs that highlighted the cultural heritage of Punjab and social bonding among families.
Shiv Singh Jawanda, a close friend, along with immediate neighbours recollected that Rajvir started performing during his school days at Sanmati Senior Secondary School where he studied up to Class X. Rajvir did his senior secondary from a convent school at Sidhwan and graduation and music studies from Lajpat Rai Memorial College Jagraon.
Even during his service as wireless operator in Punjab Police, Rajvir continued his humble disposition towards his peers and villagers.
The villagers appreciate Rajvir's songs, which have become an integral part of the region's cultural identity.
His popular songs include ‘Dheean’, ‘Khush Reha Kar’, ’Jamme Nall Dey’, ‘Sukh’, and ‘Sakoon’. He also acted in three films, ‘Kaka Ji’, ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’ and ‘Zind Jaan’.
Activists of Kissan Unions remember his dedication to the Samyukt Kissan Morcha.
The funeral of Rajvir Jawanda will take place at Kothey Pona village at 11 am on Thursday. An obituary card has been uploaded, informing people of the funeral arrangements.
Raghbir Singh Jagga, an artist, said hundreds of singers, lyricists and fans of Rajvir Jawanda, besides dignitaries from the government, will attend his funeral.
