Residents living in the West constituency fumed over the defacement of their properties with political posters. They alleged that posters were being put on the walls of their residential and commercial properties without their approval.

People said that during every election, political parties resort to this practice and deface their properties. The Election Commission despite being aware about the matter has failed to intervene and take any strict action against the parties concerned.

Not only this, defacement practice is also rampant when it comes to the public properties. Walls of maximum public properties in West constituency are lying defaced with political hoardings and posters. Since these government department officials are least bothered about the practice, so there is no one left to check the trend.

Anubhav, a resident of Haibowal, said that he had recently got his house white-washed and now by pasting posters on the walls of his house, the appearance of his house had been made ugly. “Not only my house, but several other in the locality have also been defaced by pasting of posters. We request the Election Commission to take note of this and get this practice stopped immediately,” added Anubhav.

During a visit to the city, a large number of political posters can be seen pasted on the sides of the overbridge from the bus stand to Bharat Nagar Chowk.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said that he had already given directions to the MC for removal of all such unauthorised posters.
