The residents of nearly 70 houses, a majority of them women, took to the roads in the Ludhiana East constituency on Thursday to protest the PSPCL's failure to provide power supply in the area for the past over 40 hours. The women raised slogans against the department and maintained that they were bearing the brunt, but the department had failed to provide uninterrupted power supply in the area.

The protesters alleged that after a complaint was filed with the department, officials came and temporarily plugged the wires. But, the said, the move restored power only temporarily, causing them much harassment. The residents also raise slogans against the MLA, alleging he had not extended support to them.
