Robbers’ bid to loot money changer’s shop foiled

Masked miscreants barged into a money changer’s shop near Samrala Chowk to commit a robbery but they failed in their attempt.

Seeing the suspects coming to commit the loot, the shop owner and his mother locked themselves in a cabin. Meanwhile, one of the employees of the shop ran outside and raised the alarm which forced them to flee the scene. The incident was captured in CCTV cameras of the shop.

The shopkeeper, Tarun, said when he was sitting with his mother at the shop yesterday, three unidentified persons after parking their Honda Activa scooter on the road entered the shop. He alerted his mother when he saw the masked suspects. Employees were sitting in the adjacent shop. He and his mother locked their cabin from inside. On suspicion, he asked the suspects to remove masks from their faces but the angry miscreants took out sharp weapons and threatened everyone, including clients, to keep quiet. The shopkeeper said when his female employee ran outside and shouted for help, the robbers fled the scene.

He said his brother stays abroad. The incident created a panic among his family members and now, they were planning to shut down the business here and go abroad.

Meanwhile, the Moti Nagar police started a probe into the incident.
