Ludhiana, October 29

To get feedback on the performance of their wards, online teaching — its merits and limitations and to motivate parents to monitor the assessment report of their children, the state Education Department has decided to hold parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) across the state on November 2 and 3.

District Education Officers are asked to pull up their socks to make the meetings successful so that a proper and transparent feedback is given to department/teachers.

The meetings will be for parents of students studying from Classes I to XII. The parents can choose any mode of communication, they can provide feedback online (through mobile applications), through telephonic conversation or by personally visiting school and meeting respective teachers.

To apprise parents of the Punjab Achievement Survey (PAS), efforts for online education and study material for their wards amid the pandemic, the state Education Department has chalked out a state-level PTM schedule for 27.1 lakh students studying in 19,000 government schools across the state.

SCERT director Lalit Ghai told mediapersons that officials of the department and the DEO office, nodal officers and school heads and principals would organise meetings with school teachers before the PTMs to let them know about aims and mission of the parent-teacher meetings.
