Although safety measures are usually taken before special occasions, the threat given by Sikhs for Justice leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has further necessitated the augmentation of security measures at and around venues where the celebrations will take place.

The authorities claimed that vigil had been enhanced around statues and venues of the celebration, along with educational institutes and public places. Besides organising nakas, search and combing operations during night domination are being undertaken in all subdivisions of the district.

SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said security had been beefed up with intent to instil confidence among residents and demoralise antisocial elements. Leaders of various outfits have also been roped in to sensitise residents about the significance of community policing in maintaining peace in the region on special occasions. The SSP also cautioned people to remain vigilant while viewing and forwarding posts on social media.
