The Punjab Senior Vets Association has welcomed the appointment of Dr Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, a renowned Indian virologist and veterinary scientist, as Vice-Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) in Ludhiana.

Former Joint Director Animal Husbandry Punjab and Member Punjab State Veterinary Council Dr Gurinder Singh Walia,  former CEO Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Dr Nitin Kumar, former Director Animal Husbandry Punjab Dr Sanjeev Khosla and Deputy Director Statistics Dr Desh Deepak Goyal, while welcoming Dr Gill’s appointment, expressed the hope that under his able guidance, the livestock farmers will be benefitted most and his vast experience in the field of animal health, particularly in the areas of virology and vaccine development, would help control and contain existing and new emerging diseases so that production losses due to infectious diseases were minimal.

Dr Gill has worked extensively on diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, brucellosis and rabies.

Dr Gill is the fifth VC of GADVASU, which was established in 2005 during the then Capt Amarinder Singh regime. IAS officer DS Bains, Dr VK Taneja, Dr Amarjit Singh Nanda and Dr Inderjit Singh had served on this post during the past 19 years.
