A social media influencer and shoe trader Gurvinder Singh Prinkle, who was arrested three days ago by Sarabha Nagar police in connection to a 2022 case that was reopened, was sent into judicial custody on Friday.

However, Prinkle did not provide any clue about his mobile phone, through which he was accused of uploading alleged derogatory posts against the wife of an advocate, Gaganpreet Singh, according to the FIR registered against him on November 16, 2022. Prinkle was arrested by the police on Tuesday, following the reopening of the investigation.

It was on Wednesday, when the police presented Prinkle in the court that another advocate had slapped him, prompting the Sarabha Nagar police to further strengthen his security during police remand. Nobody was allowed to go near the suspect after the incident.

The investigating team had sought police remand for today as they were yet to recover the mobile phone he had allegedly used for uploading the posts on social media.

During all three days of police remand, Prinkle insisted he had handed over the mobile in question to officials at Division Number 3 police station in connection with a case registered on his (Prinkle’s) complaint.

A perusal of the records at Division Number 3 Police station by Sarabha Nagar police revealed that no such item was deposited there. The police are now investigating further.
