The villagers shared that a former Akali sarpanch of the village who had taken a piece of land on lease, allegedly refused to release it. This led to a dispute and the people from the other party attacked the family of the sarpanch when they were sitting at their farm house this evening and injured them. The other party tried to throw stones at the attackers but failed to prove a match for the latter.

SP(D) Pawanjit, DSP Payal Hemant Malhotra along with SHO Doraha Jaswinder Singh and police party reached the spot to record statements of the villagers. “A land dispute between the two parties is said to be the reason for the attack. Things would get clear once the statements of the injured are recorded,” said DSP Malhotra.
