With the festival season approaching, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar on Tuesday conducted an inspection at the fire brigade headquarters near the railway station. He said high fire incidents were reported during Diwali every year.

During the inspection, the officials were directed to make preparations in advance, in case any untoward incident was reported during the festival season. The aim was to keep residents safe, he said.

Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) Jaswinder Singh, SFO Dinesh Kumar, SFO Rajan Singh among others were present during the inspection. Prashar along with the officials also inspected the fire tenders and turntable ladder (TTL) deployed in the fire brigade.

He directed the fire brigade to make sure all the machinery was in a workable condition. He also urged not to keep any material on the roof of their houses during Diwali, lest it catches on fire.
