STC judo trials: 130 aspirants turn up on Day 1 in city

As many as 130 aspirants attended selection trials in judo discipline, conducted by the Sports Authority of India Training Centre (STC), Ludhiana, on Thursday. These trials are being organised to enrol talented athletes in the age group of 12 to 18 years under residential and non-residential schemes.

Puskar Singh Malra, assistant director, STC, Ludhiana, said judo coaches Sagar Upadhaya and Diviya supervised the trials. After completing the weight and height checks, physical and judo specific tests were held. Interested players could appear for these trials on Friday also.

Selected players would be provided facilities such as lodging and boarding (residential only), scientific sports training, medical insurance, sports kit, education expenses and competition exposure as per guidelines of the Sports Authority of India, Malra added.
