Ahmedgarh SDM Gurmit Bansal said office-bearers and activists of various social and educational organisations had come forward to oppose the use of Chinese string.

Besides organising workshops and seminars, the administration has conducted a series of activities, including poster-making, declamation contests, and debates.

Guru Harkrishan Public School, Phallewal; Victoria Public Senior Secondary School, Lehra; Wisdom World Public School; and Government Senior Secondary School, Chaminda, were among the institutes where students took an oath to shun the Chinese string.

Despite strict vigilance by the police against the stocking and sale of the string, there has been an exceptional demand for it in this part of the Malwa region.

Lohri, Vasant Panchmi, and Republic Day are among the scheduled days when the largest number of residents would be flying kites, using the banned string.

Residents have urged the authorities concerned to take proactive measures to protect human and animal lives by spreading awareness about the consequences of using the string for flying kites.
