Investigating officer ASI Jatinder Singh stated that Dhruv Palta, a BBA student, was on the way in his car to play cricket on June 6. As he reached Pakhowal Road, an Aura taxi stopped in front of him, blocking his path. The taxi driver refused to give way. After Dhruv repeatedly honked, the suspect finally moved. It led to an argument between the two. The matter seemed resolved and Dhruv got back into his car and drove towards Basant Avenue.

Dhruv informed the police in his complaint that as he reached near DAV School, the taxi driver, along with six accomplices, stopped his car. The assailants then took the cricket bat from Dhruv’s car and began to repeatedly strike him. Dhruv’s friends, who were playing cricket nearby, rushed to his aid, following which the assailants fled the scene. Dhruv was admitted to a hospital in a profusely bleeding condition.

ASI Jatinder Singh said the police registered a case against unidentified assailants based on the victim’s complaint. The police indicated that they were identifying the suspects and would arrest them soon.
