Three bike-borne youths open fire at bizman’s house

Bike-borne youths opened fire at the house of a businessman at Jawahar Camp in the wee hours of Tuesday. The entire incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed outside the house. When information about the incident was received, officials from the Police Division 5 reached the scene and started investigation.

The victim, Kamaljit, said in 2020, his brother Harjinder Singh was shot dead and he had to testify in the same case on July 25. He expressed apprehension that associates of his brother’s murderers could be behind this attack and they might had come to intimidate him.

“The firing was done to intimidate him and prevent him from testifying. The police are now investigating the case on the basis of the CCTV footage of the suspects, which was handed over to the police as evidence,” the complainant said.

It is clearly visible in the footage that three youths riding a bike come outside the house and fired a shot at the door while leaving the scene.

The victim said the suspects were residents of Jawahar Nagar Camp and the Sham Nagar area, who had been identified from the footage. The police assured the victim that the case would be investigated impartially.

SHO inspector Bikramjit Singh said after identifying the suspects, a case was registered against the youths identified as Varun Goggi and Manya, both residents of Jawahar Camp, and Aman Sharma, a resident of Sham Nagar. Now, raids were being conducted to nab them. The victim’s family had also demanded security till the time the suspects were arrested and the real motive of the attack was known.
