Three members of gang nabbed with 1-kg heroin

The police claimed to have nabbed three members of an interstate gang of drug peddlers and recovered a huge quantity of narcotics.

One kg of heroin, a two-wheeler used in the crime, drug money worth Rs 18,500 and paraphernalia used in the crime were recovered from the possession of the suspects identified as Sonu Thakur of Goond Ahari Madhuban, at present staying at Mohalla Shiv Shakti Colony, Gopal Nagar Chowk, Abhishek Gautam Kaaku Shooter of Rishikesh Kothi in UP, now staying in Mohalla Prem Vihar at Tibba, and Mahesh, alias Jatin, of Bihar, at present residing at Ram Nagar on Tajpur Road.

Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Swapan Sharma, said the police team had nabbed the suspects when they were going on a Honda Activa near MLG Sewerage Plant, Kakka Road, under the jurisdiction of the Daba police station on Wednesday.

The contraband and paraphernalia used in weighing, packing and distribution of the drug were recovered during the search.

Meanwhile, the Ludhiana (rural) police claimed to have nabbed two drug peddlers booked in separate cases and recovered 70 gm of heroin from their possession.

They were identified as Akash Singh of Rukna Kasim village in Fazilka district and Angrej Singh of Kilche village in Ferozepur district.

SSP Ankur Gupta said police personnel, supervised by DSP (D) Inderjit Singh Boparai and Gursewak Singh, had nabbed Akash on the basis of a tip-off when he was going on his motorcycle from GT Road Sugar Mill to Jagraon City via Kothey Aath Chakk on Wednesday and seized 50 gm of heroin from him.

In a similar case, ASI Sukhminder Singh of the Sidhwan Bet police station nabbed Angrej Singh with 20 gm of heroin when he was going from Kishanpura to Sidhwan Bet on Wednesday.
