Three of robbers’ gang land in police net, Rs 2.20L, sharp weapons seized

The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and arrested three of its members. The police recovered Rs 2.20 lakh in cash, an iron rod and some sharp weapons from their possession.

The suspects were identified as Shindar Singh of Focal Point, Yograj Singh, alias Yogi, and Karan, both residents of Kohara.

ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brar in a statement issued stated that a CIA team, led by ASI Sethi Kumar, was patrolling on the Machhiwara road when he received a tip-off that the suspects, who were were running a gang of robbers, were sitting behind a factory and planning to commit some major crime.

The ADCP said the police conducted a raid and nabbed the suspects. During preliminary questioning, they admitted that they had planned to commit a robbery at some factory on the Machhiwara road. But timely arrest of the miscreants foiled the plan of the gang. Now, they would be taken on a police remand so that involvement of the gang in past snatching and robbery incidents could be checked and more members of the gang, if any, can also be arrested.

Among the suspects, Karan has a criminal past as he is facing five cases, including of drug and liquor smuggling, registered against him in the past and after coming out on bail in July last year, he again got involved in criminal activities.
