A seven-day training programme on “Advanced Micro Irrigation System” concluded at the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under the aegis of the National Committee on Precision Agriculture and Horticulture (NCPAH), New Delhi. About 30 farmers and farm women from Punjab and other states attended the training programme, conducted by the Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC), Ludhiana.

Through video-conferencing, Professor Nilesh Biwalkar, project incharge told Rohit Lal and KK Kaushal of NCPAH, New Delhi, that the training programme covered key topics such as the PFDC scheme, PMKY’s Per Drop More Crop initiative, drip irrigation design, fertigation scheduling, and soilless cultivation. Practical sessions included hands-on training, and field visits focusing on system maintenance, and hydroponic system demonstrations.

The chief guest at the function, Dr Mahesh Kumar, Additional Director of Research (Engineering), PAU, highlighted the role of precision agricultural technologies in enhancing productivity. He urged the farmers to seize an opportunity to learn and implement precision agricultural technologies and water saving techniques.
