Tributes paid to Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda at bhog ceremony

A large gathering, including VIPs, celebrities and members of the music industry, visited Pona village to pay tributes to late Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda who passed away in an accident at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh a few days ago.

Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, has recommended a government job for his wife in recognition of Jawanda’s contribution to the music industry and cultural heritage of Punjab. Addressing a gathering during the ‘bhog’ ceremony at his native village Pona in Ludhiana district, Sahney said he would ask Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to provide a government job to Jawanda’s wife within a couple of days.

Sahney further announced that the World Punjabi Organisation would dedicate the Voice of Punjab competition’s first prize worth Rs 2.5 lakh in Jawanda’s memory. The organisation would also adopt Jawanda’s children and bear all expenses for their education.

Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian represented the Punjab Government and handed over the CM's message to the organisers according to which a stadium would be established at Pona in memory of Jawanda.

A condolence message was also received from Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
