ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brar in a statement issued stated that crime branch inspector Beant Juneja along with ASI Raj Kumar and a police team were conducting patrolling to keep a tab over smugglers, during which they received a tip-off that the truck driver, who is involved in poppy husk smuggling, had been supplying poppy husk in Ludhiana after bringing the same from neighbouring states.

Brar said the suspect, along with the truck, was waiting for his clients to deliver poppy husk to them on the Chandigarh road. Accordingly, the police team conducted a raid and nabbed the suspect. During a search, 80 kg poppy husk was recovered from the vehicle. A case has been registered against him.

Now, the police remand of the suspect would be sought from court so that the entire drug supply line could be busted and big drug suppliers be nabbed, he said.
