The Ludhiana (rural) police claimed to have arrested two members of a gang of drug peddlers when they were going to deliver a consignment of heroin on the Malak-Aligarh road on Monday.

A bike used in the crime and 30 gm of heroin were recovered from the suspect, identified as Mangal Singh Jagga of Teacher Colony at Moga, and Gagandeep Singh Cheeni of the Rani Wala Khooh area in Jagraon.

SSP Ankur Gupta said police officials, supervised by DSP (D) Inderjit Singh Boparai, had arrested two members of a gang of peddlers on the basis of a tip-off received during the ongoing Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign.

Jagga and Cheeni were intercepted at a naka when they were going on the motorcycle from Malak Road towards the Aligarh side on Tuesday. The contraband was recovered during a search of the suspects. The police are yet to ascertain identities of accomplices of the nabbed suspects.
