The Sarabha Nagar police station yesterday registered a case against two persons who allegedly took Rs 1 crore from Narinder Singh Bawa, a resident of Model Town Extension, promising him membership in the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB). In this case, the police pressed sections of fraud and criminal conspiracy against Navdeep Singh Sohal, a resident of Block L BRS Nagar, and his father, Baldev Singh Sohal. In his complaint to the police, Bawa had stated that Navdeep was an acquaintance, who along with his father Baldev Singh, convinced him that he had significant influence in the AAP.

The two accused lured him by saying they could easily get him appointed as a member of the Punjab Pollution Control Board. On the pretext of securing membership, the accused took Rs 1 crore from the complainant. But the accused neither secured the membership in the board, nor returned the money. Bawa had submitted a written complaint on February 28.
